EXCLUSIVE: ABC Renews “Scrubs” for a Transitional Ninth Season
End of Show is hearing exclusively that ABC have renewed veteran sitcom Scrubs for a ninth season. When the show returns we can expect many familiar faces. John C. McGinley, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Sarah Chalke and star Zach Braff have all signed on for six episodes to help the show transition into its new format. Despite this McGinley, Faison and Flynn’s participation depends on whether or not their new pilots are picked up next week.
What remains unknown at this point is whether or not the show will continue as a single camera sitcom or if it will adopt the traditional multi-camera approach. Stay tuned as more details become available.

[...] looks like ABC listens to the fans after all. The word is now out that Scrubs is being renewed by ABC for a “Transitional” 9th Season. Many of the main cast members (Zach Braff [...]
No, it should have been cancelled that is when a show goes down hill fast when the main charactor of a show drops out. Why did you do this abc I watched the fanilly it was great end on a high not do not bastardize scrubs!!!!!!!!
I agree, to an extent. I am a die-hard fan of the show, so part of me wants to jump for joy at this news. However, look what happened with Spin City when Micheal J. Fox and Bill Lawrence left – it fell apart. I really hope that’s not what happens with Scrubs.
Honestly, though, whatever comes in the future is fine. The way Season 8 ended left me happy. If season 9 isn’t up to snuff, no worries. Life goes on.
It might work. Get rid of Zach and the rest of the cast (save maybe McGinley and Jenkins) and you might be able to work it as something fresh.
With the constant threat of ‘this is the last season’ going all the way back to season 6 the producers felt the need to do edgier things. Killing people off, promoting others. The show has been so bastardized that it’s not the scrubs we all loved any more. If they do want to continue it then they will need to do it with a complete new cast, if there is any hope of getting new fans.
Ok! Never in a million years would I have thought I would say this but I think I understand what Jonathan is trying to say!!! I absolutely love scrubs but I rather see it retire with a great ending like it did than have it come back ( as much as I want it to!) enjoy the cast a bit longer then have them to away and leave a great veteran show in the hands of rookies that might never measure up to the high expectation of it’s faithful fans who are used to the the great quality of the show!!!
OMG I think I don’t want scrubs to come back!
Aaaaaaaaaaaah! What the…?
Brilliant news!!!!!!!
I personally enjoyed every episode of scrubs, but the way they was spitting out episodes it felt like they was rushing this season forward. JD as being one of the main people we enjoy with his day dreams i guess cause in reality we all kinda do the same. The Turk and JD brotherly love wont be the same without each other. Keep JD around!!
