Game of Thrones’ Finn Jones : “I’d be Sansa”

Ah, Finn Jones, a rare beauty who plays Game of Thrones‘ Knight of the Flowers Loras Tyrell. Forget that Jones’ real  name is Terry and look at the curls, the curls! *Sigh*.

This weekend Jones (*sigh*) joined Jason Momoa and Josef Altin at Collectormania 18 in Milton Keynes as a precursor to setting off to the Game of Thrones set in July to film season 3. He told assembled fans that he had read the books and that if he could play any other character on the show it would be Sansa Stark. “I want to wear the nice dresses and have nice hair”.

Lena Headey and Natalia Tena were also at the show, which was held at the MK:Dons stadium. Game of Thrones fans were a visible force, and the slow creep that this fandom has made seems to have engulfed quite a diverse set of people. There were teenage girls dressed by Top Shop, Starfleet officers, stormtroopers and Doctors 5 and onwards stopping by to get autographs.

The fact that the season 2 finale airs tonight led to some slightly awkward moments in Saturday’s Game of Thrones talk, and a fan was almost lynched for trying to suggest the fate of Daenerys Targaryen to Jason Momoa. Fans were gasping “April! April!” like the emotional partners of oil rig workers weeping as their love is removed from them. The fact that George R.R. Martin is less than urgent when it comes to completing his epic work has Game of Thrones fans gnawing at their fingernails. All we have now is conventions  and interviews to carry us through to April, the cruellest month. Luckily Starfury events has Throne Con 2 in January. And of course we have the DVD of Loras shaving the chest of his lover Renly. We might just make it Thronesters, we might just make it.
