You may have seen the trailer to IDW’s new title ‘Kill Shakespeare’ here on End of Show previously – now onto issue 2 the series shows no signs of slacking as Hamlet begins his quest to kill the powerful wizard Shakespeare.

Wait, Hamlet kill Shakespeare? Well you see, Richard III wants Shakespeare dead and in return he will restore the life of Hamlet’s father with magic. Hamlet appears to be the fabled Shadow King, the one who can Kill Will and give ultimate power to Richard in the form of an enchanted quill.

What I love about Kill Shakespeare are the moments that the Bard’s work have taught us to expect, but which are still surprising. We know characters like Iago, Hamlet, Richard III – we know their motivations, and can guess how they might react in certain situations. However the writers still manage to make their alternate universe so rich that the story is in no way predictable, and Anthony Belanger’s art is visceral and bloody with a real sense of menace.

Kill Shakespeare Issue 2 “Something Wicked This Way Comes” is available from May 19th, You can buy issue 1 here  and find out more at  www.killshakespeare.com
