Review : Small Wonder – The Complete First Season
It’s a wonder (and wonderful!) how relevant Small Wonder is in 2010! Watching VICI, the Lawsons, and the Brindles made my niece and nephew laugh just as hard as I did over a decade ago watching the series for the first time. This time around, I can catch the parents’ innuendo, of course, and giggle at the silly special effects. VICI (Tiffany Brissette) tugs on my heartstrings as she tears up in the Season finale “The Grandparents.”
Dick Christie’s character Ted Lawson brings up questions in several episodes that we think about today, that are the subject of many present-day science fiction novels, graphic novels, television shows, and movies: can artificial intelligence evolve into human emotion?
The Shout! Factory special features entertain as well; I’ve always been a fan of DVD commentaries but it’s especially worthwhile to hear actors or creators who are looking back on work they did years ago—like reminiscing through an old photo album. While on the subject of albums, the fan artwork is a brilliant addition to this collection!
