As mention in the previous comment, I think you got a few things wrong - In particular, isn't in mentioned that China was the first to use it as a mass weapon? (I'll rewatch and check) and Alpha may even have been mentioned as having done some good in an unknown way.

But over all I think Epitaph One is an outstanding episode, not only on the way it delivers the story and the quality of the acting, but also it opens up the story to show there is a world out there to be explore plot wise, beyond just the same old reprint of a new personality each week - Hopefully now the premise is established in season 2 we will see a richer sequence of stories told.

Only just watched the episode though, so after another watch will have a better grasp on things.

There seem to be some errors in this review. And also some assumptions I disagree with.

You state that Alpha's remote imprinting has been used, yet so far all we have seen Alpha manage is remote-wiping, not remote-imprinting, and when it is later said they have Alpha to thank, it doesnt appear to be ironic, which tends to suggest that Alpha may have become an ally.

Also Topher's ranting about the idea of a robo-dialer army, it is never actually stated that this is how it began, and it certainly isn't how all this chaos has been caused. There is even a reference to China laying down a "blanket" signal, to convert those outside the range of any tech, suggesting perhaps a satellite transmission.

Also I wouldn't state that the reason for the downfall of the dollhouse was greed. The reason for the downfall of the world maybe, but the reason for the downfall of the dollhouse was that the Rossum Corporation had simply finished with it. It was a useful testing ground and raised some cash, but ultimately, it simply outlived it's usefullness.

I'm fairly sure that Mr Ambrose isn't the founder of the Rossum Corporation (surely that would be Mr Rossum) but I am certain that it doesn't say anywhere that his original body has passed on, however even if it has the entire point of the scene is that he ISN'T DEAD, and he never will be, that's the point!

In the previous episode (not the end of the last season) we saw Paul considering joining the dollhouse as an independent contractor helping to hunt down Alpha, we did not see him become a handler.

There are other things I could point out but then I would just be becoming pedantic.

Having seen 'Epitaph One', I'm thinking the point isn't that the dolls have themselves restored to a pre-wipe form of Victor or Sierra or Caroline, but that the actives themselves seem to have turned into a composite of their wedged personalities and their evolving 'doll' selves that is specifically resistent or adaptable to the remote imprinting that essentially results in the apocalypse.
