EXCLUSIVE: Channel 4 make Big Brother cuts

Submitted by Kevin.Beaumont on May 17, 2009 – 3:36 pmView Comments

Big Brother returns on Channel 4 (UK) soon for a tenth series, however End Of Show can report the show budget has been slashed, resulting in viewer-affecting changes.

emily-bigbrother-c4Changes include Channel 4 closing its Big Brother online forum (which cost “several hundred thousand pounds a year to run”), the complete removal of its live feed/streaming service which means viewers can no longer watch the house at any time, and limited coverage on E4.  Sources tell us the overnight house feed will be limited from 11.30pm until 6am.

Big Brother averaged 4.5m viewers for its first series in 2000.  The last series averaged just 3.6m – setting a series low.

Tabloids may not like the changes, as previously the live feed had been used to break many stories about house antics which never made the highlight shows.

Shame on you - no live feed. 10 years I have enjoyed the 24 hour streaming. One of the benefits of looking after your customers is loyalty, repeat business. Sorry no more phone votes from me.

I find watching BB now very hard, the word that realy spoiles it, the constant uses of the F word. please tell them to cut it out, no wonder our children today use it so much, why do people have to talk dirty, thanks for letting me sound off.

Really disappointed over no live feed this year, not sure if I'll watch it at all.I've always been a huge BB fan and look forward to it every year.It was said on BBLB that more money has been put into the web site, well I for one think it was a wrong decision, this isn't the way to keep viewing figures up.Please listen to your viewers and bring it back.

Why oh why is there no live feed this year there are so many of us that want it why cant channel 4 producers see that. It has brought many great years of fun to a lot of people, do they want this show to continue or not it seems not. I am so disappointed that i cannot get the live feed or even watch it on my computer its a real shame.
Shame on you channel 4 there are a lot of unhappy and disappointed people out there who look forward to watching big brother live. Many people might think it sad that it brings pleasure to a lot of people so listen to your public and please put it on live feed. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Yes i echo your words, in fact i feel sorry four this years contestants as their not being given the same coverage as previous ones. If channel 4 could'nt afford the BB anymore why did they bother doing the show in the first place!! No life feed back shows what poor sponsors luczade are I'll never drink another bottle of the stuff!! Please give us the live feed back before we all stop watching!
Brenda groom a soon to be an ex bb watcher.

I cant see the point of doing it at all if they are scrapping the live feed.
