EXCLUSIVE: New Dollhouse to screen first at Comic-Con

Submitted by Kevin.Beaumont on May 11, 2009 – 10:29 pmView Comments

A brand new episode of Dollhouse, set in the future, will be on the Dollhouse DVD in North America exclusively.  We understand plans are afoot to screen it for the first time at Comic-Con in San Diego, which runs in July.

The episode is focused around Felicia Day, and features four other new characters.  Additionally — despite what has been previously reported elsewhere – it does include the regular Dollhouse cast.

The episode was shot with a very limited budget in a constrained environment on digital, it is VFX heavy in places, and for the first time delves into the purpose of the Dollhouse.  It is mythology heavy and an essential watch for fans of the series.

Tone wise, think gothic horror.  Felicia Day plays a freedom fighter.  What are they fighting over?  The Dollhouse.  What’s happened at the Dollhouse in the future?  You’ll find out.  It’s messy and twisted.  The ghosts of Dollhouse past are out to play.

The episode is directed by Joss Whedon, and is planned to  have its first screening amongst thousands of fans at Comic-Con.

The DVD is available for pre-order from Amazon.  It also contains the original, unaired pilot episode “Echo”, written and directed by Joss Whedon.

Sweet!! I didn't know the DVDs would include the unaired pilot as well~ Even though we've seen pieces and parts of it scattered throughout several episodes already, it'll be nice seeing it in its entirety as it was originally meant to be seen.
  • I plan on pre ordering my copy this week. Sounds interesting now if only the network would give us another season.
