In Hollywood terms this kind of movie tends to be a series of horror/action adventure set-pieces linked by characters, whereas Buffy should be a character story with horror/action-adventure set-pieces inserted. If they don't further the story then don't put them in. Villain: The Master. This is the only enemy to directly kill Buffy and she has an emotional connection which would be interesting to revisit. The resurrection of The Master would bring in magic from Willow and Giles - and perhaps conflict between them and Buffy. I would caution against cameos for every character (so we wouldn't necessarily see Spike or Faith) but I suppose Angel would have to be in there somewhere for obvious reasons. Fans have to remember that a movie has to appeal to non-Buffy fans and so the litmus test for ideas would be "Does this idea/scene/sub-plot make sense without foreknowledge of the Tv series?". Also, I'd recommend it would be a one-off movie to close BtVS forever...leaving the way open for something else perhaps..?

I recently finished rewatching the 6th and 7th season of buffy the vampire slayer, and i think it would definatelyt be possible to make either a movie or possibly even another series. When i finished the last episode, i couldnt help but feel as if it couldnt end there, im addicted to btvs. The characters could still hold the same show as they did previously. And as other people have mentined, i would too be very happy to que for a day or two to see the movie (and pay a lot for a new series)...

/what we really need to do is write to joss whedon XD/

Let's take a little breather here, folks. I am a huge Buffy fan, but I feel there are some problems with the blog post above. First, I think Twilight is a phenomenon unto itself. I don't think it's indicative of a renewed interest in vampire stories (although you can bet we'll see tons of knock offs in the next year or two as movie studios scramble to cash in on what they think is the Next Big Thing). I liken it to the Harry Potter series, which tapped into a fan base in a similar way. Second, while Buffy fans are a passionate and enthusiastic lot, they're still a small audience in the grand scheme of things. That's not a knock on Buffy fans, people. We love us some Buffy, but there aren't THAT many of us. Don't believe me? Look at what happened to Firefly. Despite passionate campaigning (perhaps too passionate) by Browncoats, "Serenity" just didn't do well enough to justify a sequel. Third, the comics format gives Joss the ability to tell stories with no real limitations. There's no special effects budget -- if someone can draw it, he can write it. Why go back to a format that has limitations when you're already catering to your audience using a different medium? And fourth, as others have pointed out, the cast, writers and producers have moved on. Some still work with Joss, some are doing their own thing. Pulling them back for another round of Buffy wouldn't be easy, and with the other points I've mentioned above I don't think it's likely.

Remember, I'm a fan. I'm not trying to be negative; I'm trying to be realistic. I'd LOVE to see more Buffy. I just don't think it's going to happen.

In response to
"1. Who is the Immortal fella that Buffy was with?"

That wasn't actually Buffy, it was one of two lookalike slayers assigned to protect Buffy's true whereabouts. One partied around with the Immortal and the other had the much less pleasant job of fighting demons in a subterranean cavern.

My heart aches for more Buffy. And not just Buffy in panel form, but Buffy and gang on the screen. But you know what? No matter how much I think I want it, deep down I know a movie with the original cast would be an absolute disaster. The SMG/Buffy era is over. And it should be. It ended beautifully. Anything else would cheapen the 7-year masterpiece we've been given.

But FRAY. Oh, my goddess. A whole new cast wrapped in a gorgeous new package that pays perfect TRIBUTE to the greatest TV show of all time? Now that would make me cry.

l would think the idea would be great if Joss and the former cast members of Buffy and Angel would agree to do it. And l also agree with the person that u could possibly tie Buffy with Angel esp since both left u wanting more.

I've been saying for years that there's money in that buffyverse!! Just two nights ago I had and odd dream about a Buffy movie being made and woke up with a very sad feeling that we're all getting older (I'm the same age as SMG) and how terrible if the next generation didn't get the chance to enjoy this story. A shame if all they had was Twilight!

If Joss is the artistic genius that I believe him to be, a 'new' Buffy movie would be a continuation that is removed from the original cast of characters. Perhaps a few might make cameo appearances. To try and truly continue the Buffy universe could only be successful if Joss does not try to pick up where the graphic novels are at this time. Look at how he spun off Angel from Buffy. A few well placed characters to make the transition, but overall a completely different style (urban versus high school) and story line that mentions Buffy/Sunnydale on only necessary occasions.

I am a Buffy/Angel/Joss Whedon fan with my whole heart but if I saw David B attempt Angel after such a successful run in Bones, or Sarah after all of her successful projects, or even Seth Green turn into beastie boy again, I would be sorely disappointed in Joss and his creative team. But somehow I don't think that I will have to suffer that disappointment. I have faith that Joss will use his creativity to expand the Buffy et al universe to new heights instead of trying to revive Sunnydale. What is that saying, "you can never go home again"? However, I have to say I am curious to know whther Buffy finishes baking or gets burned in the end. Hmmmm...When a slayer dies, a new one arises. Anyone like the idea of knowing how that story would go? I would pay big money to know who becomes the next 'real slayer' and a story which would have all of the same vampire nostalgia that Joss and David and Tim created.
