USA Ratings roundup – return of the shows

Submitted by Kevin.Beaumont on September 24, 2008 – 10:33 amView Comments

How I Met Your Mother – 9.7 mil – a very strong performance, outpacing it’s 8.2 mil average from last season.  A total of 20% over it’s previous season opener.  It’s good news for the series, which had been facing year on year decline in ratings.

The Big Bang Theory – 9.2 mil – slightly down from last year, although still a very strong performer.  This show will stick around for at least another season, if not much longer.

New series “Worst Week” – a remake of the BBC show – pulled 11 mil – a solid debut.

Heroes – 10 mi – massively down from last year, a sign the audience may be bored of the concept.  Can they reboot the show and give it fresh blood to bring people back?  Because of the size of the cast, the special effects and filming, these ratings will cause troublesome faces at the network.

I think that buzz may help Heroes come back a bit stronger. The ore-season hoopla wasn't as strong as they probably expected.

Great pairing of HIMYM and BBT, they compliment each other and both had nice will-they-won't-they cliffhangers to get back into, so it was win win.

Worst Week is that BBC show remade, right? 11 million is v. impressive.
